Apartment for sale
Apartment for Sale, with a colourful history… Dublin 8
• Three break-ins in the first three years.
• Man shot dead 100 yards from your front door – in a pub in 1996. Supposedly an IRA killing.
• In 1999 apartment occupied by a man who believed he was Jesus Christ.
• Current occupant mugged / accosted approximately four times on nearby streets during first four years of residence. In one instance he lost his shoe in the getaway.
• Neighbour from across the hall went for bag of chips at 1am October 2001. Found stabbed seven times outside a chipper 500 yards from apartment. Killer believed to be a 17 year-old known to the gardai.
• In 2001, current occupant disturbed from his television viewing only to find that a junkie had climbed up the outer wall, in the window and was found sitting at the end of the tenant’s bed.
• In 2002 the current occupant was jumped while inside the local Spar. He was on the phone to the police looking for assistance at the time. The police arrived two minutes later and gave him (and his bike) a lift the 200 yards to his apartment.
• In 2003, the windscreens of a number of cars (around eight) smashed on the public street that the apartment complex gates open onto – a reassurance to any buyer that the security gates work (sometimes).
• Luas line opened in 2004 running just 70 yards from the front door. Pure class. • December 2004, additional €500 bill received from Management Company 3 days before Christmas for general repairs to the common areas (damage was due to tearaway scamps ripping off the wallpaper).
• Thomas Street – ‘Heroin capital of Ireland’ ( RTE News May 2005) – only a short walk News May 2005) – only a short walk away!
• August 2005, one resident of the complex found to be using the common grounds as a lot for selling stolen cars.
• September 2005, neighbour’s apartment raided due to suspicion of involvement in drugs.
• October 2005, management fees increase 25% to cover costs of installing CCTV on the common grounds.
• October 2005, RTE news report on open news report on open drug dealing in the ER department of St James’ Hospital – 500 yards from your door!
• November 2005, gardai issue warning to residents – do not approach man X or his partner Y under any circumstances – both live in apartment Z only 20 yards away.
• November 2005, gardai conduct random searches on the common grounds at night – due to gun being found on the premises two weeks previously. Supposedly these searches go on all the time.
• December 1st 2005, 12.40am, police raid X’s apartment with sledgehammer and leave with two large sealed evidence bags.
• Current occupant’s flatmate makes a request – “what are the chances of getting a panic room built/installed in time for Easter?”
