Today Rosa Parks dies
Civil rights icon Rosa Parks has died of naturalcauses at her Michigan home. RosaParks earned the title of "mother of the civil rightsmovement" in 1955 when she refused to give up her bus seat to awhite man in Montgomery, Alabama.Because she was tired after a days work, The act of defiance launched the modern civil rights movement and was to change the course ofAmerican history.Rosa said she didn't get on a bus to get arrested but to go home.Her arrest triggered a 381-day boycott of the bus systemorganized by a then little-known Baptist minister, the ReverendMartin Luther King Junior, who later earned the Nobel Peace Prizefor his work.Parks and her husband were forced to move to Michigan because ofthreats, harassment and because they couldn't find work. She workedas an aide in Congressman Conyers office rom 1965 to 1988. Rosa Parks was 92.
